The D.A.T.A. Scholarship Foundation was created to help support the efforts of Larry’s Barber College, a nonprofit organization that helps train incarcerated individuals to become barbers, or to “Develop A Trade After.”
To learn more about Larry’s Barber College’s impact on Chicago communities, visit their website. The website also provides more information about enrolling in the barber education program.
Larry’s Barber College was founded in 2004 by Larry E. Roberts Jr. with the mission of helping incarcerated individuals find meaningful and sustainable careers after prison.
There are five LBC campuses located in and around northern Illinois and the Chicago area. One of those includes Larry’s Barber College at Cook County Jail, which directly serves individuals who are currently incarcerated and who are seeking a career in barbering after their release.
Since 2021, our partnership with Walmart has allowed us to employ our students in our hair salons located inside of Walmart. We have placed over 16 students from Larry’s Barber College for career progression in these salons.
